Safer Skincare

On average…

American women use 12 beauty products a day.

There are 100+ chemicals in these products.

There are 13 hormone-altering chemicals in the bodies of teen girls.

There are 200+ synthetic chemicals in the umbilical cord blood of newborn babies.

Research shows that toxic chemicals from cleaning products, the food we eat, the environment and our beauty products may play a role in serious health issues. There are more than 80,000 chemicals on the market today, many of which do not have any safety data and many of which are used in the skin care and beauty industry. The FDA has very few regulations on the ingredient safety in beauty products, so many companies use chemicals known to be harmful in the products we put on our bodies. These chemicals are known or suspected carcinogens (substance that may cause cancer) and can also disrupt our hormones.

Despite these crazy statistics, the U.S has not passed a federal law regulating the cosmetics industry since 1938. The European Union has banned more than 1,300 chemicals from cosmetics, and the U.S has partially banned…30. Thirty!?!

And that’s why I’ve decided to join a movement for better beauty and work with Beautycounter.  Beautycounter is a movement with a mission is to get safer products into the hands of everyone. Beautycounter believes that everyone deserves better and is committed to a health standard that goes way above the laws in the United States. Beautycounter chooses to ban 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals, while ensuring the effectiveness of their products.
